Learn about Vanderbilt through VirtualVU this summer!
For high school students thinking about college, this summer — like everything else in our world — is probably looking quite different than what you might have expected three months ago. While this is a time traditionally filled with college road trips and campus tours, you’ve had to transition to learning about college from home. In response, colleges have been challenged to provide opportunities for you to learn about our schools from the safety of your own home.
Here at Vanderbilt, we’re excited to unveil a series of events called VirtualVU! We’ve taken elements of traditional campus visits—things like information sessions, student panels, or academic sessions—and created online versions. We’re particularly mindful of questions rising seniors might have, so we’ve designed two kinds of events with you in mind:
- Every Monday, we offer Educational Webinars to help you navigate the college search and application process.
- On select Fridays, we invite you and your family to hear directly from Director of Admissions John Gaines, and Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships Brent Tener, in our Directors’ Forums.
VirtualVU also allows you to learn about the many ways Vanderbilt faculty and staff support our students. In our Academic Spotlights, offered each Wednesday, Vanderbilt professors highlight academic opportunities in each of the four undergraduate schools. On Thursdays, we’re excited to highlight different offices on campus in our Campus Spotlights. Each office, ranging from academic services to identity centers, will only present a Campus Spotlight once, so be sure to keep an eye on our calendar and sign up for any you’re interested in!
If you’re looking to hear directly from current Vanderbilt students and parents, check out our Student Panels and Parent Panels. Each of these events will be dedicated to answering your questions. Tuesdays at noon and Fridays at 4:00 p.m. Central Time, you’re invited to engage with panels of current Vanderbilt students. Each of these panels will feature different panelists, so you’re welcome to sign up for more than one to hear different perspectives of campus life! Once a month, your parents or guardians can ask their questions to a panel of current Vanderbilt parents.
If you’re a student who is just starting to look at Vanderbilt, we encourage you to register for an Online Information Session, which offers a great overview of Vanderbilt, as well as our admissions and financial aid processes.
Whether you’re at the beginning of your college search process or you’re eager to learn more specifics about the Vanderbilt experience, VirtualVU has something for you. We hope to see you online soon!
