Guest Blog: Merit Scholarship Finalists and News
Greetings,
I am pleased to provide the following update as it relates to our major merit scholarship programs for the class entering fall 2012. Learn more about Vanderbilt’s merit scholarship opportunities through the Office of Student Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships.
Ingram Scholarships: Fourteen finalists for this program have been identified, contacted and invited to campus for interviews taking place February 19 – 21. The Ingram Scholarship Program recognizes students who plan to combine a professional or business career with an exceptional commitment to community service. The Ingram program supports students who are committed to developing their personal roles in the solution to societal problems and who have the maturity and initiative to lead positive social change.
Cornelius Vanderbilt and Chancellor’s Scholarships: Scholarship committees will review these applications during the month of February with notification to all awardees by mid-March. We anticipate that we will make approximately 140 offers (proportional by Vanderbilt undergraduate school) in the Cornelius Vanderbilt Program and approximately 40 offers in the Chancellor’s Program.
Lanier Atlanta Scholarships: Recipients of these scholarships will be selected as part of the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship program and notified in mid-March.
Carell Scholarships: Finalists for these scholarships will be contacted by February 16 and will interview with the Carell Selection Committee on Saturday, February 25. The Carell Family Scholarships are awarded to students who have held part-time employment during their high school years and demonstrate financial need. We anticipate that we will make 2 – 3 Carell Scholarship offers.
Curb Leadership Scholarships: The Curb Leadership Scholarships are awarded to students who place creativity at the center of their lives and use their talents and leadership to transform their communities. Scholarship committees will review potential candidates for this scholarship program during the month of February with notification to all awardees by mid-March. We anticipate that we will make 8 – 10 offers in the Curb Program.
Need-Based Financial Assistance: The majority of financial assistance awarded to undergraduate students at Vanderbilt is in the form of need-based financial aid. We are committed to making Vanderbilt affordable with our need-blind admissions policy and our commitment to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need without the use of loans for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens. Additional information regarding our financial aid program and application procedures can be found at the Office of Student Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships. Even though our priority deadline has passed, we are still accepting and giving full consideration to need-based financial aid applicants.

Hi! This is a little off topic, but any idea of when EDII letters will be sent out? I know the website says February 15th, but in years past they have been sent out early…any chance of that happening again this year? Sorry, I’m just anxiously waiting for my admission decision:) Go ‘Dores!!!!

did the curb scholarship notifications go out yet? because I applied, but I was not notified of my status (accepted or rejected) however i received my rd acceptance letter yesterday.

With the exception of the Fred Russell-Grantland Rice sports writing scholarship, scholarship decisions have been made and the recipients notified. Russell-Rice finalists have been notified by e-mail and will be notified of their status by April 4.
Competition for our merit scholarship programs continues to be intense. Awards in one of our three signature programs (Cornelius Vanderbilt, Chancellor’s and Ingram) were made to fewer than 1% of our applicants for admission. Staff and faculty from the Vanderbilt community have spent countless hours reading and discussing scholarship applications and making difficult decisions regarding award recipients.
