Congratulations to The Newest ‘Dores
The newly admitted members of the Vanderbilt Class of 2018 are talented, diverse, passionate, and, judging from their online reactions to the news, very excited. Moments after decisions were released, our newest Commodores started sharing their news on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. It’s been a ton of fun to watch the responses of these students and their families as they react to the news that they’ll be spending the next four years at Vanderbilt.
You can see these reactions for yourself below in our Storify collection, or you can explore the social response at social.vanderbilt.edu.
To all of our newly admitted students we say, “Congratulations!” We’re thrilled to welcome each and every one of you into the Vanderbilt community. After you’ve adjusted to the euphoria of the news and reality sets in, you may want to start thinking about next steps. Here are some ways to get started on life at Vanderbilt:
- Make sure you have claimed your spot by December 31. Log in to your MyAppVU account to claim your spot, pay your deposit, and make it all official. (If you need technical assistance, email myappvu@vanderbilt.edu.)
- Join the Class of 2018 Facebook page where we’ll share our latest updates and you can start meeting each other.
- Visit the Common Place website to read the welcome letter from Dean of The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons Frank Wicslo and explore the online community for your new home.
- Keep reading Inside ‘Dores, where our student bloggers will continue to give you an inside look at the student experience of Vanderbilt.
- Explore the Course Catalog. If you’re like me and enjoy reading the course catalog for fun, then it’s never too early to start looking at potential classes.
- Contact a student with questions. Seriously you should do this. Our students are an amazing resource, and they are just as enthusiastic as you are about Vanderbilt. In fact, just last week student blogger Julianne Connors told me how excited she was to have gotten an email from a prospective student.
- Enjoy your last winter break of high school!

This is so exciting! :)
I haven’t received my official letter in the mail yet, but I live in El Salvador so I guess it will get here soon.
I honestly can’t wait for next year!
