2013 Wait List Update

Posted by on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Waitlist.

We have started reaching out to students to whom we would like to offer admission from our wait list. As we have mentioned often on this blog, admitting students from our wait list is an anticipated necessity as we complete our class. We are committed to enrolling a class of 1,600 so that every first year student can be part of The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons. The selected students will receive an email notification.

We will continue to send periodic email notifications to all students remaining on our wait list to inquire about their continued interest in Vanderbilt. Prompt responses to these emails are important as we evaluate future potential offers of admission from our wait list.

We know that the wait list process can be difficult and we appreciate your patience.  We will continue to provide updates on a regular basis.

Thom, if I did not receive an offer today, what can I anticipate/do in the coming weeks in order to continue to be considered for admission? Is there still a chance of being admitted?

    Hi Logan,
The most important thing for you to be doing right now is keeping an eye on your email and responding to any and all messages you receive from our office. The fact that you did not receive an offer in this first round does not mean that you will not be admitted later in the coming weeks.

    Carolyn,
Thanks much! I actually received and responded to the update today!

If we were not accepted in the initial wave, what is the likelihood of being accepted later??

  • Carolyn Pippen

    May 6th, 2013

This week’s round of wait list admits was our largest, but likely not our last. The number of spots we have left to fill will depend on many different factors, including how many students in this first round accept their offers.

Did all of the first wave go out or will there be more this week?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    May 6th, 2013

We are unsure at this point how many more wait list offers we need to make, or when we will make them. This will depend on a number of different factors, including how many of the initial offers are accepted.

If all the spots are not filled in this wave, when will the next round of wait list offers be sent out?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    May 6th, 2013

    Hi Nickalina,
At this point we are unsure when the next round of offers will be made or how many there will be.

Can we still send new information to the school?

  • Ryan Burleson

    May 7th, 2013

You are welcome to submit new information if it substantially adds to our understanding of your application and tells us something new about you.

When will the next round of emails be sent out? I replied to the question saying I wish to remain on the waitlist.

  • Ryan Burleson

    May 13th, 2013

Thanks Kevin. It sounds like you’ve done all you need to do for now. At this time I’m not sure of an exact date of when the next email will go out.

Has Vanderbilt already reached its maximum number of spots for transfer admissions for fall 2013? If so, when might I be reached of an acceptance, denial, or placement on the wait list?

  • Ryan Burleson

    May 13th, 2013

The transfer class hasn’t been closed yet and we continue to send decisions on a rolling basis.

  • Gu MC

    May 13th, 2013

    Ok thanks you Ryan.

  • Kevin Mack

    May 16th, 2013

Do you guys know when the next round of decisions will come out for the waitlist? Or how many spots you still need to fill?

  • Ryan Burleson

    May 17th, 2013

At this time I don’t know when the next Wait List update email will be sent. Thanks for your patience.

Are there any spots open for the second wave of the waitlist? And if there are, when would we hear from y’all? Thank you for for time!

  • Ryan Burleson

    May 17th, 2013

Yes, we are still filling the class with spots from the Wait List. At this time I don’t know when the next update email will be sent. Thanks for your patience.

  • Carolyn Pippen

    May 21st, 2013

    Hi Danielle,
We have now sent 2 rounds of wait list offers. We are unsure at this point when or if future offers will go out. If you would still like to be considered for admission, please make sure to continue responding to our interest inquiry emails.

Are there any updates on the transfer wait list?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    May 29th, 2013

    Hi JM,
At this point we have not yet begun making offers from the transfer wait list. I cannot tell you for sure when these offers will be made, but we will contact you directly if you have been admitted, or if you have been officially removed from the wait list.

Any idea on the timing of round 3 (have already responded to WL email #3) and whether or not any additional engineering students will be pulled from the waitlist?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    May 29th, 2013

At this point I cannot tell you when the next round of offers will be made or which schools will be represented.

    Thank

You are welcome to still apply at this point, though your chances of admission will be very slim, considering we are now over two months past the priority deadline.

    Hey!
I’m currently on the Wait List. I haven’t received any sort of email from Vanderbilt, such as one like the people on here are commenting about. I see that a lot of people have already responded to some sort of inquiries about remaining on the Wait List, yet I haven’t received one – should I be worried? Once again, I haven’t received any contact from Vanderbilt; however, I still wish to be considered as a candidate for admission off of the Wait List. Is there anything that I need to do at this point?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 4th, 2013

    Hi Drew,
Our transfer applicants do not receive wait list interest inquiries. You will remain active on the wait list until either you are admitted or we officially close the class.

  • Drew Keim

    June 11th, 2013

Ahhh, I see – so, the inquiries for the Wait List are probably referring to the Freshman one. Anyway, THANK YOU for the help with this :)

Are you still offering admission to first year students from the wait list?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 6th, 2013

We are still making offers, though at a much slower rate than we were a month ago. You will be notified via email if you either receive an offer or we have completed the wait list process.

Are you still offering admission to transfer students from the wait list?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 7th, 2013

    Hi Rachel,
The transfer wait list is still open, though we do not know at this point how many more offers we will be able to make. If you are still interested in receiving an offer of admission, send us your final transcript when it is available, and we will contact you when either a spot becomes available for you or when the wait list is officially closed.

Thanks! Just out of curiosity, who reviews the applications again from the wait list?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 9th, 2013

    Hi Victoria,
The applications are reviewed by a committee made up of admissions counselors and our Director of Admissions.

Hi, I’m a transfer student on the wait list. I was just wondering if there are any updates as to when wait list decisions will start being sent. Also, what is the transfer wait list process like, are application reevaluated or stored in a tiered manner? And how could I improve my chances of being accepted (besides sending in final grades)?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 7th, 2013

We have begun making offers from the transfer wait list, and that process remains open. We typically review waitlisted applications using the original contents of the file as well as any updated grades we have received.

Did you started on accepting transfer students from the wait list or not yet?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 7th, 2013

We have begun making these offers and the process remains open.

  • John

    June 7th, 2013

Hello, I was wondering if there will be another round of admissions from the wait list for first year applicants to the class of 2017. Also, when do expect the wait list process to be over? Furthermore, generally do you actually accept students from the wait list in June or do you just keep the wait list active but not really accept anyone? Thank you!

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 8th, 2013

    Hi John,
The freshman wait list is still active, and this will likely remain the case over the next few weeks. At this point we do not know how many more offers we will be able to make, though I can tell you that the majority were made in the first week of May.

  • Evan Booher

    June 14th, 2013

I have not received a wait list email since 5/20. Have any been sent since then (and will any more be sent)?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 14th, 2013

    Hi Evan,
We have not sent any more emails since that last round in May, but I do not know at this point whether or not we will send more.

  • Danielle Carpenter

    June 16th, 2013

When will you know if you need to send more out?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 17th, 2013

    Hi Danielle,
Offers will continue to be made on a case-by-case basis until the class is officially closed. Unfortunately this is not a scheduled or predictable process, as it depends on a number of changing factors, including how many of our wait-listed students accept their offers, and how many of our admitted students are accepted off wait lists at other institutions.

  • Raghav Kataria

    June 19th, 2013

Hey, Carolyn, I was wondering if there is anything we can do to continue to demonstrate interest, since, you have not been sending wait list update emails for a while.

  • Carolyn Pippen

    June 19th, 2013

    Hi Raghav,
As long as you responded in the affirmative to our last round of emails, we will assume that you are still interested in attending Vanderbilt. If you would like to indicate exceptionally strong interest (for example, if you know for sure that you would accept an offer of admission), you are welcome to email your admissions counselor.

  • Raghav Kataria

    June 19th, 2013

Thank you so much Carolyn. I am sure I will accept the offer if I get it. I’ll write an email to my admissions counsellor today itself.

    Is the waitlist still active?

  • Carolyn Pippen

    July 2nd, 2013

The wait list was closed yesterday. All students who had indicated their continued interest throughout the wait list process were sent an email yesterday morning.
