Counselor Conference 2010
Between April 8th and April 11th the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will host Counselor Conference 2010. It’s just another way we try to reach out to our students and truly learn about the context from which they come. For the next three days we will have 100 high school counselors from 28 states, the District of Columbia, and 10 foreign countries here in Nashville, Tennessee.
In the coming days your counselors will have the opportunity to eat in our dining facilities, sit in on our classes, and speak with the Deans of our four undergraduate colleges. We will also tour them around the city of Nashville so they can really get a feel for both our campus and our larger community. In turn, our visiting counselors will get to meet with graduates of their high school who are current Vanderbilt students; the counselors can talk to us about changes in their school environment; and most importantly, they will have frank discussions with our Dean and Director about the decision-making process here at Vanderbilt.
There are many ways we as an office and as a university attempt to connect with our prospective students that you may not even realize. As a member of the 2010 Counselor Conference Committee, I cannot adequately express how excited I am to talk with individuals from all over the world about the upcoming classes. Moreover, I am particularly excited to be hosting three counselors from my own recruitment territories!
