Vandy iPhone App Now Available

Posted by on Thursday, February 18, 2010 in College of Arts and Science, School of Engineering, Video.

The new student-developed Vanderbilt iPhone app has now been loaded into the iTunes app store for your download. The app features:

  • A dining app that dynamically shows where to get your nosh on across the Vanderbilt campus and immediately surrounding neighborhood similar to Urban Spoon. It even shows you when places open and close in case you need some late night food and don’t want to make a needless jaunt.
  • A fully interactive campus map feature (that will soon feature the official Undergrad Admissions tour)
  • An events/calendar feature that shows you all that is happening across campus and the surrounding neighborhood. Want to know who’s playing the music scene in the Hillsboro Village on Saturday, it’ll tell you.

Here’s a demo of the app, with a voice over from Hamilton Turner, one of the lead student developers for the app.

Wow- this is not our parents’ college experience! Very cool app and congratulations- it will be great to really develop those layers to make it less cluttered, and to integrate admissions information.

Now to actually get an iPhone…
