Deadline Weekend 2010

Posted by on Friday, January 1, 2010 in Application Process, Early Decision.

I suspect you are sick of the applications, essays, extracurricular activities lists, and countless forms so I will keep this short (in my own way of course).

Our postmarked deadline for ED 2 and RD is January 3, 2010.  If you are submitting online with the Common Application, I highly recommend you finish and submit prior to 11:59 pm on the 3rd – just a thought.  If you have questions about the Common App, they do not have a telephone help line, but you can email the Common App Support Team for help.  Given the volume though, I would highly suggest you search the Common App FAQ’s and Knowledgebase first.

If you’re going the non-online route, we will accept a January 4, 2010 postmarked paper application since 1/3 falls on a Sunday this year.

For questions about Vanderbilt’s application requirements we have a centralized Vanderbilt Admissions FAQ page and an Application Quick Guide that should answer most questions.  If you still have questions, email your admissions counselor and they should be able to respond to your question this weekend.  We will try and get an answer back to you quickly.  Although we do have some night owls on staff, I wouldn’t count on an answer at 11:56 pm Sunday night.

Finally, know that this stress is temporary.  Take things one at a time, breathe in and out, and try and remember that this is all part of the journey you’ve chosen.  As Shakespeare wrote:

There is a tide in the affairs of men, / Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; / Omitted, all the voyage of their life / Is bound in shallows and in miseries. / On such a full sea are we now afloat, / And we must take the current when it serves, / Or lose our ventures.

The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Act 4, Scene 3, Lines 218-224
