Waitlist Check-in Emails Update

Posted by on Monday, April 27, 2009 in Waitlist.

Today we will be sending out an email to students who have accepted a spot on our waitlist.  The email, which is included below, will ask you to visit a short online form to update us on your continued interest in Vanderbilt, specifically, if you still wish to remain on our waitlist.  If we make offers from the waiting list, this information will be used in combination with your information already on file (including any new materials received).

We recognize that some individuals are still very much interested in being admitted to Vanderbilt from our waiting list.  Others may have turned in the card initially, but have since fallen in love with another school, and no longer wish to remain on the waitlist.  Understanding where you stand along these lines is the spirit of this email.

The emails will be sent to the address you supplied on the reply card.  If you have questions or concerns email us at admissions@vanderbilt.edu.  Check the blog for more updates to come.

We write to update you about the status of our Waiting List. Over the next week, we will take a close look at the standing of our incoming class and we would like to know if you remain interested in attending Vanderbilt.

Please complete our online Wait List Reply Update no later than May 1st so we understand your intentions.

Please contact our office if you have questions about the process or about Vanderbilt.

Sincerely,

Douglas L. Christiansen, Ph.D.
Associate Provost for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions

    Hey Thom,

I just got my Wait List Update e-mail, but I can’t find a link to the online form. I was wondering if you could help point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Thom!

I just checked my e-mail and I received an e-mail notification of the Waitlist Update.

But it contained no link or anything. I think I’m blind. =]

I received this email today, but the link mentioned in the blog post was not in the email. I tried looking for it on this website but had no luck finding it. Where should I respond to the online waitlist confirmation?

I’m pretty sure when they made the email to send to everyone they forget to actually activate the link. If it was sent out like 30 minutes ago and 3 people have already commented on this having happened, assuming it has happened to everyone would be reasonable.

(This way hopefully there won’t be hundreds of comments more saying the same thing!)

All, the email sent was in HTML script, so if your email reads in plain text, the link won’t show up. I have included the link in the original post, and we will be sending out an updated email.

Is there any reason to notify the Admissions that the only 2 Vandy admissions in our HS have declined (local TN HS)? Since that just leaves 1 extemely hopeful student waitling to come off the list, we were wondering if we should write a note to the Vandy Admissions Counselor.
    We really appreciate this Blog!

    Thanks!

    Mary,

Thanks for the question. No, there’s no reason to notify our office about the students at your child’s high school. We account for yield (percent of students who accept, and conversely decline) our offers of admission when we make our decisions. It is not a one-for-one like you suggest in that those two students really aren’t “holding spots” that could be filled by someone else. We have already accounted for that.

Thanks again for reading the blog,
    Thom

how long does the wait list process go on and do you have any idea when we will hear?

Carol, we do not know when we will start making offers from the waitlist (it now looks like we will be able to do so at some point). We try to make sure that the process does not extend past the 4th of July (ideally sooner for all involved).

    Hi!

Will waitlist students be notified by regular mail or email that they have been accepted? Really hoping I’ll be in Nashville in the fall.
