ED I Mailing Day

Posted by on Thursday, December 13, 2007 in Application Process, Early Decision.

Well, the files have been read, second read, debated over, and decisioned, the letters printed, checked, double-checked, and today they leave our office. It was without a doubt the most competitive Early Decision year Vanderbilt’s ever seen.

A couple of important reminders:

1) As Christina has mentioned before, and as you can see in this picture, all of our ED responses come in small envelopes. Don’t freak when you see a skinny envelope.

2) We do not release admissions decisions over the internet. We’re a bit old school that way.

3) Vanderbilt rarely defers students from ED to regular. Why? Because we believe that students should get an up or down from us, and sooner rather than later. We believe that in the long run, it is better for students to know where they stand with us and be able to either make plans for coming to Nashville, or begin the process of moving on.

4) If you’re an ED applicant and don’t hear from us by the middle of next week, you can call us starting on Thursday (12/20) at 800.288-0432 and get your decision over the phone.

Good luck to everyone!

I’m so nervous and scared but I’m glad to know that the decision letter comes in small envelope…I would freak out if I didn’t know.

Thank-you for this blog :) Good luck to all ED applicants.

well the ED acceptance rate last year was 40%.. they got 30% more ED applicants this year so it probably dropped to the 30-35% range

What about for international students? It says on the website that the Admissions staff would send an email?

well the commons house less people than the incoming class last year had; there are 100 less spots in the freshmen class. They’re shrinking the student body, they want to become a better ranked school. I can’t get in

    Hi all,

To the question about ED notification of international students; emails were sent yesterday at around 3:30 pm CST. If you should have any questions, let us know.

My friend and I both received rejection letters, what is going on at the admissions office? We were both in top 5% of our class, one of us receieved only 1 B, the other no B’s, low 700’s on the SAT scores. Something is wrong!

It’s a shame colleges have become so competitive with who can have the lowest acceptance rates. It’s not fair to the students.
