Where are you from?

Lawrence, KS

Which Admissions office programs are you involved in?

MOSAIC, Anchor Days, PreVU

What’s your favorite Vanderbilt tradition?

My favorite Vanderbilt tradition is Move In Day. The upperclassmen students do such a wonderful job of welcoming new students to campus through each house's cheers. They also do a great job of making the process relatively quick and stress free for parents. The YouTube videos online get me so excited for the start of the school year.

What hobby do you wish you had more time for?

I wish I had more time to draw. I picked up the skill through classes in college, but do not necessarily have a great space to make a mess in.

What did you study in college?

Journalism and History

If you could go to college again, what major would you choose?

History and Political Science

What’s your favorite off-campus hangout?

There are so many good options, but more often than not I end up at Double Dogs in Hillsboro Village during basketball season.

What’s the best concert you’ve seen in Nashville?

James Taylor was probably the best with Tom Petty as a close second. My husband and I tend to go to concerts where we are the youngest people in the room by 20 years.

What is the moment you knew you were a Nashvillian?

I was actually born at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I went to junior high and high school in Kansas and moved back to Nashville as an adult. I have always thought of myself as half-Nashvillian and half-Kansan.

What is your favorite place to eat in Nashville?

If I am up for a splurge, I love the Southern and Urban Grub. For a more affordable option, I love Martin's BBQ.

Do you have pets?

We have a cat named Chamberlain, but she goes by Kitty.

If you weren't an admissions counselor, what would you be?

In a dream world probably a travel writer. In the real world, I would want to work in alumni relations.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

In 20 years you will regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did.
