My name is Hunter Gabel, I’m a sophomore here at Vanderbilt, and if you’re reading this I just died a little from excitement because that means someone is reading my blog and (hopefully) falling in love with Vanderbilt just like I did.
Contrary to my usage of both howdy and y’all as a greeting, I’m actually from Los Angeles, California and ready to share my experiences as a West Coast kid embracing all Nashville has to offer. I’m majoring in Neuroscience for sure and probably double majoring in Philosophy (since that’s the most logical double major combo of all) and loving every minute of it. I am also on the Pre-Med track so whether you want to talk about neurological disorders or medical ethics, I’m your guy.
All that aside, I’m basically triple majoring in extracurricular activities because a) I can’t say no and b) I fell in love with so many different sectors of campus I just couldn’t choose. So aside from being a blogger here at Inside ‘Dores, I also work giving tours to prospective students as a Dore for a Day host, am on exec board for the Disabilities Awareness partnership, and work with the Office of Active Citizenship & Service as well as the Student Alumni Board. On top of all that, I’m currently living the dream on Commons for a second year as a Residential Adviser in East House (#EastisBeast) which means that I get to hang out and build community with 100 of the coolest first years on campus.
In the little free time I have left, I enjoy basically living at The Pub at Overcup Oak, having three hour conversations at Chili’s, and generally getting excited then panicking every time the seasons change.
As you can see, I love talking about life here at Vandy and would be ecstatic to talk about what your life here might look like too. So whether you’re a senior applying or a freshman researching colleges, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or comments (seriously it will make my day) and I’d be more than happy to write back.
