Fall Semester Senior Year Schedule

Happy September everyone! Can’t believe August is already over, but I can’t wait for the weather to cool down and for the leaves to change color for the fall!

In other news, I can’t believe that I’m a senior…Time seems to fly by faster with every year and I’m honestly a little sad that this is my last year at Vanderbilt. Here is my schedule for this fall!

This semester I am taking a French class focusing on French culture and history from the Medieval Ages to the French Revolution (my last required class for my French minor), Constitutional Law, and Chinese. Since I had some time in my schedule this fall, I decided to take a Chinese class because although I know how to speak and understand Mandarin fairly well, I wanted to learn how to read and write. I love how flexible Vanderbilt is and how I can take classes that interest me that are outside my major and minor. For my music major requirements, I will still be playing in orchestra (for our large ensemble requirement and for chamber music, I am in a string quartet. I also still have weekly private lessons and studio class. I planned out my schedule so that all my classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is nice so I can reserve Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings for the bulk of my studying, practicing, and grad school applications!

As for extracurriculars, I will be more involved in Vanderbilt Music Outreach, an organization that provides music education for children and performances for retirement home residents and hospital patients. I’m super excited because I love working with and teaching children and sharing my passion for music through performance outreach and service. I also plan on teaching privately on the weekends and have multiple string quartet gigs at various events, so I’m excited to perform more in the Nashville community.

This semester will still be incredibly busy for me, but I’m looking forward to making new memories. As always, if you have any questions about my senior year or general life at Vandy, please email me at meghan.leong@vanderbilt.edu!
