Fall Festivities!

Posted by on Monday, October 10, 2016 in Food, General Information, Nashville.

I grew up in New Jersey, where we experience every season completely. My favorite? Obviously fall. Between the crisp weather, the apple cider, school starting (I’m an education major, remember? I love love love school) and Halloween (who doesn’t love dressing up?!), Fall takes the absolute gold when comparing seasons in my mind. However, here in Nashville we experience fall a little…less. It’s a little shorter, as our summer is a lot longer than it is in NJ. But, have no fear! For the few weeks of cool weather with leaves falling down and the smell of pumpkin spice (lattes) in the air, there are a TON of fun activities to satisfy the Jersey girl in me who misses driving down the roads to leaves changing brilliant, vibrant colors for the whole months of September-November

First of all, FOOD. Whether it’s getting a Pumpkin Spice Latte (yes I love them and no I am not embarrassed AT ALL to admit that!) or when Commons Center or Rand have special pumpkin-themed foods (like pumpkin ravioli-so, so good!), my taste buds may or not be the way to my heart and lately my heart has been totally full of fall foods! Which makes me so happy and way less homesick!

This is us with at the pumpkin farm!!

In addition to fall food and drink on campus, there have been a ton of festivals, farmers markets, and other events around the Nashville area that totally celebrate fall the way I (and many others) feel it should be! For example, my friends and I drove a little off campus, about 15 minutes, to a farm last weekend to go pumpkin picking! And, of course, there were plenty of food trucks with all fall-flavored foods! There was even a pumpkin catapult that was hilarious to watch each other try! It’s always so fun to get into Nashville and away from campus for a day to remember all the cool things the city (or, in this case, the country!) has to offer.

I miss the New Jersey Fall, I do. But boy, does Nashville do a good job with the few weeks of fall it has! I already have more plans with friends to check out a drive-in movie theater and a haunted house. And don’t even get me started about our brainstorms for Halloween costumes! Fall, I love you. Nashville, you’re okay. (JK I obviously love it but hey how does any city compare to the first sip of a Pumpkin Spice Latte, am I right?!)
