Me & KPMG

My last post was a heavy handed rant about how much I love being an English major at Vanderbilt. Being an English major means being versatile. I can apply my major to absolutely anything, and that’s exactly what I do!

For example, just last week, I competed in a case competition for KPMG, one of the Big Four account firms, AND I WON!

Team Between The Spreadsheets!

That’s right. Me, along with three of my friends, won a case competition right here on campus! As a Corporate Strategy minor, a minor within the Managerial Studies department here at Vanderbilt, I am constantly afforded opportunities to network and engage with amazing corporatations–the kind of places that I have incredible interest in working for.

For the KPMG competition, my team (hilariously named “Between The Spreadsheets”) and I analyzed a company and provided strategic recommendations based on the knowledge given to us, but we only had 48 hours to do so! We presented this analysis, along with our recommendations, in a twenty minutes to a panel of KPMG consultants.

Later that same day, we found out we were WINNERS, and that would would be advancing to the next round of the KPMG case competition! Talk about exciting opportunities!

The next round of the competition–semifinals–will be held in Atlanta. My team and I have been working on case competitions and practicing up. If we win the next round, we’ll advance to the New York City competition, and then, ultimately the world finals held in Dubai!

I am so excited about this opportunity, and I love that I can compete in an accounting case competition, regardless of my major! That’s the kind of school I’m at! Go ‘Dores!
