Ice Skating

Did you know that Centennial Sportsplex is right across the street from campus? I always knew this, but when things get crazy, I quickly forget that these opportunities for fun exist. Yesterday, though, I took advantage and went ice skating with some friends.

Centennial Sportsplex is right across the street from campus and Centennial Park. It is about a three minute walk from campus and has tons of athletic facilities. There are two Olympic pools, basketball courts, tennis courts and my favorite part-the ice rink. I am a far cry from a professional ice skater (I am still trying to learn how to skate backwards), but as a Florida girl, I do have a soft-spot for the indoor ice rink.

I had been skating at Centennial once before, my first year here. Let’s just say it was well overdue. For some reason, my week was front-loaded. I had three exams and a short paper due on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so by Wednesday afternoon, I was practically in weekend mode. Lucky for me, my friends were feeling a little burnt out as well, so they were up for a small study break! After class, we all met up and walked over. We rented skates and strolled around the rink for an hour and a half. It was so much fun! I just love being active, so this was the perfect productive break for me.

Although I still may be wishing that the weekend was here, I definitely have the renewed energy to make it through the week!
