Acapella and Duck Hunting

Posted by on Sunday, September 30, 2012 in College Life, General Information, Greek Life, Music.

This weekend was quite a busy one, packed with a little too much fun and not enough work! On Thursday evening, my acapella group The Vanderbilt Dodecophonics got together with the all female acapella group The Swingin’ Dores to hang out and perform for one another. At every Dodec concert, the Swingin’ Dores come and perform during intermission. The Dodecs always perform at the Swingin’ Dores concerts as well. And although we always perform at one another’s concerts, we wanted to get the time to hang out and get to know each other a little better. We all met at one of our member’s off-campus apartments, and enjoyed pizza, performing, and hanging out. It was a lot of fun, and we are now hoping to get together a few times every semester.

Some Dodecs and Swingin' Dores!

On Saturday evening I attended Alpha Delta Pi’s annual Mallard Ball. Mallard Ball is a historical event for all ADPi chapters across the country, where sisters and their dates dress up in duck hunting gear (or even as ducks) and spend the evening in the woods.  Back when ADPi was first founded, sisters and their dates would actually hunt for ducks during the party. Mallard Ball is now just a tad different, as there is no duck hunting involved. Instead, there was a band and dancing, a fire pit for smores, and BBQ. Mallard Ball was a lot of fun, and I hope I can make it again next fall!

Well, considering its 3pm on a Sunday, and I have not done any homework since Thursday afternoon, I think I will head over to the library. Thankfully, fall break is only 3 days away!!!

Until next time,
Luke
