Sophomore Slam-Dunk Tailgate

I just got back from watching the Commodores dominate the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Admiral’s Club at Memorial Gym. The Admirals Club is a state-of-the-art lounge with TVs, trophies and an awesome view of the court. You may be asking yourself how I was able to get to such an exclusive room. Well, Vanderbilt’s Student Alumni Board hosted a watch party for the Sophomore Class, so we were all invited to watch the game in the suite. The Vanderbilt Student Alumni Board is an organization which serves to “enrich the lives of students during their years at Vanderbilt and to educate them on the resources and opportunities available through alumni so that they might become engaged alumni upon graduation.”

Each semester, the board puts on a main event for each class, and this was the sophomore event of the semester. They served us chick-fila, chips and drinks. They also raffled a Vanderbilt apparel package, a pair of tickets to a Predators game and a 32″ TV!

I had a great time with my friends. We shmoozed over Chick-fila and Vandy Basketball. I can’t imagine a better combination. It was also interesting to see so many people there. Granted, Vanderbilt is a pretty small campus, but it is nice to be reminded of exactly who is in my graduating class. Events like these instill a sense of class unity and appreciation for one another.

In even more good news, the Commodores remain perfect in SEC play by beating the Crimson Tide 69-59. I promise though, it shouldn’t have been that close. The Commodores looked great and I cannot wait until Saturday when the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home.

GO DORES!
