Are You Ready for Some Football?

Ok, so maybe I’m a little early, but I am getting excited for next football season. Wednesday night, new Head Football Coach, James Franklin, was invited to speak at Gillette Gelato. Gillette Gelato, held every Wednesday night, is a chance for the residents of Gillette to socialize with each other and their residential staff, over some gelato. This week, however, Gillette Gelato was open to all residents of the Commons, so kids like me, who do not live in Gillette, could come out and support Coach Franklin.Coach Franklin was truly inspiring. He seems to have some clear goals for Vanderbilt football. To be honest, when I was going through the college application process, I almost did not apply to Vanderbilt because I didn’t think that their football program was respectable enough. As you know, I’m from Florida. Football has always been a HUGE part of my life. So, for a while, I could not imagine being in a place that didn’t shut down every Saturday from August to November. Needless to say, I got over it, and I’m here now and even happier than I ever imagined! (But you already knew that)

I do have some good news for all of you who, like me, live and breath pigskin: Coach Franklin is going to do great things for this program. He was so enthusiastic and charismatic. He was also hilarious. He talked to us about his vision for the team and answered all of our questions. I don’t think I have ever met a coach so excited about turning a team around. In his short six weeks as Head Coach, Franklin has planned a clinic for women to learn about the game and get an inside look at the program. The clinic is supposed to be informative, and an attempt to engage girls, who usually don’t care too much about football. Of course, all women are welcome. You can bet I’ll be there!

I think I’m in love. He had me at hello.
