Quake/ Homecoming 2010

Friday was the big Homecoming weekend Kick-off – Quake 2010. If you haven’t heard of Quake at Vanderbilt, it’s a HUGE concert at our Memorial Gym including some of the BIGGEST stars out there. While the concert is attended by predominantly Vanderbilt students (at a CRAZY discounted rate as well), it is open to the public, so a lot of friends of Vanderbilt students end up visiting Quake/Homecoming weekend.  This year, Vanderbilt’s Programming Board brought in…drumroll…. B.o.B. with Hayley Williams, Passion Pit and Snoop Dogg. The concert was a lot of fun! The sound system was bumpin’, the audience was going crazy and the artists were all on top of their game.

A friend of mine is part of the Events Staff, so he got to hang with all the pop stars backstage. He said that everyone was actually really nice and down to earth. Apparently Snoop Dogg wanted to play NFL 2k11 for XBox before the game, so my friend brought his from his dorm room and they played before he went on stage.

Our Homecoming Football game was also this past weekend, where Vanderbilt took on 19th ranked South Carolina. We came out and scored first and kept the game close until the end…when..well they scored a few touchdowns.. and yea..you can read ESPN for the details on the game. At any rate, the game was a blast as always.

Lastly, early Sunday morning, the Melodores a cappella group went atop one of the taller buildings on campus to do a sunrise photo shoot overlooking downtown Nashville. Ill embed one photo and give you the link if you’d like to see the collection of photos that we got that morning. A Nashville sunrise is something worth waking very early for :)
