Why Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt was a school I had wanted to go to for a really long time. Having grown up in an SEC family, I was very familiar with Vanderbilt from a young age. After touring campus, I fell in love with Vandy and could really picture myself as a college student here. I loved the size, academic flexibility, resources, Nashville, Commons, and so much more about Vanderbilt. I applied Early Decision I and the rest is history.

Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.

I love all things admissions! The two main organizations I am involved with the most relate to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. As a Student Admissions Assistant, I love interacting with prospective Vanderbilt students on a daily basis. I answer tons of emails and phone calls while working in the office, and I genuinely love doing it! As a tour guide, I get to do basically the same thing, but in person! I find that pretty awesome.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

My favorite class that I have taken outside my major would have to be Introduction to American Government and Politics with Professor Allison Anoll. Although I already had AP credit for this class, I decided to forfeit it because I had heard such great things about the professor. I’m happy that I did because I leave Professor Anoll’s class blown away every time. She connects so many different aspects of American democracy in unique and thought-provoking ways. Everyone in the class is so engaged because Professor Anoll is passionate about her field of study and forces us to think outside of the box.
