I was looking for a solid engineering program at a school that had more of a comprehensive learning experience than just the STEM classes all engineers take. I also wanted to go to a school that wasn't too far north of my home in sunny South Florida, had D1 sports (I'm a HUGE basketball fan), and that was in or near a cool city (pro sports teams, great food, and awesome concerts? I'd say Nashville fits the bill).
List a few of your activities. Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.
Vanderbilt Hillel, Intramural Sports (Basketball, Tennis, Soccer, Flag Football), Tour Guides (duh!) Besides playing as much tennis as possible, my favorite thing to do on campus is go to Vandy Basketball games. I grew up watching college basketball so being able to go to all of the home games for free is so exciting. I always try to get to the stadium early so I can get in the first row of the student section court-side.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
My favorite class at Vandy so far was my Mechanical Engineering module. Getting to learn about mechanical engineering while building a motorized Lego car to compete in a series of competitions between my classmates was a great way to start off my first year in the engineering school.
