Why Vanderbilt

As a senior in high school I had the opportunity to attend an admitted students' weekend here at Vanderbilt, so I was able to see exactly how the students here interact with each other - and that's what sold me. The students here care about each other and I knew that was a big part of what I was looking for in a school. The students here know there's room for everyone at the top and they want to see the person next to them succeed as much as they themselves want to succeed. Vanderbilt seemed like an environment that I could picture myself in and I am so, so happy with my decision.

Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.

Experience Vanderbilt is a grant program for students to participate in co-curricular experiences and it is the first program of its kind. It's been incredible to watch how this is taking off and making changes to the Vanderbilt community.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

My favorite class I've ever taken was a class called "Blood, Gore, and Applause: Interpreting Violence in Drama." It was a small writing seminar taught by an incredible young professor who was so engaging and easy to talk to. The content we covered was fun (if you could stomach gore) and I felt challenged to question my own beliefs about violence in the media and as a form of entertainment.
