I chose Vanderbilt because after touring so many institutions, this is the only campus I stepped on that felt like home. I wanted a school that was in or near a city but also had the feel of a campus. As well, I wanted to be in a learning environment that was collaborative, not cutthroat and where I felt like a person, not a number. Vanderbilt was able to provide all of these needs!
Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.
I love being president of the club Manna International because I get to give back to the organization that helped me find myself and the career path I wanted to take in life. I also have the opportunity to give other students the ability to learn more about not only themselves but other cultures as they volunteer in countries in Latin America.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
My favorite class that I have taken thus far has been MHS Special Topics: Trauma. The reason I loved this class because it was so engaging and forced students to think about how experiences shape the way we live our life. Furthermore, our study materials were often real-life events as they occurred instead of past events in a textbook.
Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.
One of my favorite bands, Nothing but Thieves, visited Nashville to perform at Exit/In. Not only was I able to see them live, I got the chance to hang out with them afterward because of the intimate and relaxed setting that Nashville small performance houses provide.
