Vanderbilt's student body is simply the best in the country. The amazingly diverse collection of unbelievably talented student from all over the country never ceases to amaze me. I live with actors, musicians, mathematicians, philosophers, and athletes all under one roof, and can say that they are some of the best friends I've ever made. Life at Vanderbilt is always challenging yet rewarding, and it's been the best experience I've ever had.
Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.
Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations partners with local non-profits and social ventures in the Nashville area, and leverages Vanderbilt's incredibly talented student population to help these charities run more efficiently. We provide pro-bono consulting services to these non-profits, helping them improve in areas such as strategy and operations, marketing, website design, etc. Ultimately, we help them increase their impact and reach, and are able to develop professionally while we do it.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
My first year, I took a History Class about the History of the Theory of Evolution. Over the course of the semester, we studied an in-depth perspective of how evolutionary and biological science progressed over hundreds of years, becoming more precise with the advent of new technology. We also got to learn about Charles Darwin's personal life story, and got to interact with the same scientific instruments that he did.
