Why Vanderbilt

Community, community, community!  Vanderbilt doesn't possess a hyper-competitive, cutthroat academic and social environment; instead, Vanderbilt cultivates a supportive, compassionate climate in which every student is provided with the tools and resources they need in order to succeed.  Anchor down!

Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.

As Service Commissioner of Sutherland House, I'm able to organize service events that allow my classmates to volunteer in the greater Nashville area.  I love constantly meeting new people and introducing them to communities and experiences beyond Vanderbilt's campus!

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

My favorite class would have to be Representative American Writers.  This class allows for whole-class, student-led discussions about various novels written throughout the course of American history.  I love the close-knit atmosphere of the class (it's only 15 people), as well as the ability of my peers and I to choose what topics we explore in greater detail!

Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.

Honestly, my favorite Nashville memories consist of late-night trips to Jeni's (a local ice cream joint) with my friends.  Some nights we're stressed beyond belief, some nights we want to celebrate a major accomplishment, and some nights we just crave something sweet.  So where do we go?  Jeni's.  It's become a place where my friends and I celebrate, talk, unwind, and just about everything in-between.  Contrary to popular opinion, gooey butter cake and cream puff are undoubtedly their best flavors (don't let anyone tell you otherwise), so if you ever have the opportunity to check it out, go (and invite me to come along)!

List some of your favorite books, movies, TV shows, or musical artists.

Some of my favorite books include the Great Gatsby, Hamlet, and Heart of Darkness, while some of my favorite movies are the Princess Diaries, Mamma Mia, and Dead Poets Society!
