I chose Vanderbilt because it has all the resources a research university has to offer, but at the same time attaches great emphasis to the liberal arts. Plus, at what other top-notch college can you take music classes!
What have been your favorite classes?
HART 115F: Social Value of Art
EES 113: Oceanography
Which professors have made the biggest impact on you while at Vanderbilt?
My faculty VUceptor (a professor assigned to a group of about 15 freshmen), Professor Paul Lim, helps immensely by sharing his experience and perspective about college life. Coming from an international background himself, he understands what international students are going through, and really makes my integration into the community a lot easier. Like any other faculty member in Vanderbilt, P. Lim is extremely accessible, which really makes my interaction with other professors less intimidating.
What are your favorite books?
Cathedral - Raymond Carver
Everyman - Philip Roth
The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge - R. M. Rilke
