I chose Vanderbilt because something about campus just felt right ... like I was already at my home away from home the moment the tour began. I wanted a school that would be academically challenging, but I didn’t want to sacrifice my social life just for cutthroat academics. I loved how Vanderbilt students were more than what’s seen in the classroom. Vanderbilt students are able to be involved in all aspects of campus, ranging from SEC sports to unique clubs to cool research opportunities to simply being involved in the greater Nashville community.
Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.
I’ve been involved with Vanderbilt Hillel, a jewish cultural and religious center affiliated with campus, throughout my college experience (and recently was elected President!). The Hillel community is incredibly tight-knit, and there are tons of different programs that cater to a variety of student interests like Krav Maga lessons, Challah baking, Shabbat dinners, and more!
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
One of my favorite classes I’ve taken was a Managerial Studies course called Business Management. The professor used to be the CEO of the Washington Bullets, so to hear him talk about managing a professional basketball team was always incredibly interesting. The big assignments in the course involved working with a team to analyze a business case study and propose an appropriate solution. I learned so many applicable business skills, and I left the class feeling confident that I could thrive inthe “real world.”
Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.
The NFL Draft took place in Nashville during one of the last weekends before finals started my sophomore year. Every night that weekend my friends and I headed downtown tosee the swarms of NFL fans and tourists taking over Broadway. It felt so perfectly unique to Nashville that our study breaks were enjoying free concerts from mega country stars.
