Why Vanderbilt

To answer this fully would take about three weeks and involve a powerpoint, charts, graphs, and interpretive dance. Trying to simplify it there are three main reasons. First, Vanderbilt has the perfect balance of campus and city life. Second, Vanderbilt places a large emphasis on making sure the first-year experience is as perfect as possible. Finally, and most importantly, the people at this university, from professors to students, make this university what it is which is amazing.

Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.

Getting to an RA on the Commons is one of my favorite things I do on this campus as I get to not only live with and befriend all the amazing first-year students, but I get to be a part of one the big reasons I came here which was the emphasis on the first year experience. Getting to help guide and mentor first-year students while also getting to enjoy and celebrate all of their successes is extremely rewarding, plus the fact that commons has some of the best food is just an added bonus.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

One of my favorite classes I took here was entitled "Presidential Leadership" and it was taught not only by two of the most expert professors on that topic but also included guest lectures like Al Gore and both current U.S. Senators from the state of Tennessee. The amount of knowledge and first-hand accounts that were learned in that class is unreplicable and truly made the learning experience unforgettable. That class is part of the reason I decided to become a political science major!

Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.

My most memorable Nashville experience is divided into two parts. The first part was that me and a friend got last minutes to see Taylor Swift perform in Nissan Stadium, and while our seats were supposed to be in the literal last row of the stadium, we met a really nice girl in out Uber who had club level seats that she was supposed to go with her mom and sister, but last minute they could not come, and so we got to join her in the upgraded seats. The second part was trying to leave the concert we could not get an uber back to campus, so we ended up walking the three miles back and while I was in comfortable shoes, my friend was in high heels and yet we made it back to campus without even breaking a sweat.
