I decided to apply to Vanderbilt because I really really like country music and I had always wanted to visit Nashville. When I was touring Vanderbilt (and I encourage yall to do the same), the campus just absolutely blew me away with all the beautiful trees and flowers that was blooming in the spring (and also desserts in Commons.) Academically, Vanderbilt has the resources of a major university, and its relatively small student body size ensures that, as students, we have access to all Vanderbilt has to offer. There are just so many opportunities going on every day here at Vanderbilt.
Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.
Alternative Spring Break is absolutely the experience I treasured the most. Its core part is a week-long service trip to one of the 40-ish sites in or outside of the country while throughout the year we learn and reflect on the issue we deal with. The program every year brought me not only new insights on my way to become an “active citizen” but also 11 amazing new best friends and 1 loving family.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
Country Music! Come on we are in Nashville, and Professor Cooper personally knows almost all of the major country artists (and their funny stories). It's simply a must-take!
Describe your experience becoming a part of the Vanderbilt community.
I found my place in the Vanderbilt community probably as soon as on the first day I moved in. The first-year Commons is what really built my Vanderbilt experience. I had the most amazing RA, floormates and Faculty Head of House my first year living in North House. As an International student, I don’t have the chance to go back home often, but they built me a new family I can turn to whenever I need them!
What are your favorite books?
The Kite Runner is probably my favorite book. I also really like Harry Potter and the Hunger Games Trilogy.
Who are your favorite music artists?
The Band Perry? I like them because they performed on our campus on my birthday once.
What are your favorite TV shows or Movies?
The Big Bang Theory is my fav.
