Why Vanderbilt

I grew up in a smaller town with a tight-knit community. The sense of community here at Vanderbilt is present in both academic and non-academic settings. Being a part of the diverse, fun, and innovative community here is very inspiring and reminds me of what I loved about home so much.

Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.

Big Brothers Big Sisters gives me the opportunity to meet with a younger student in the Nashville area once a week and mentor them. Being able to support my little sister has taught me so many lessons and is such a fun experience.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

Theories of the Body with Dr. Callahan-Kapoor. In this class we discuss how the body is viewed and used in various countries, communities, and cultures. The class is very discussion based and allows for the implementation of theory into situations we encounter every day.

Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.

Concerts at the Ryman Auditorium! I recently saw Ben Rector and will see James Bay there soon. It is a small venue but it attracts a lot of great artists that are really fun to see.
