Vanderbil mapped to my high school in many ways. Both were small but not too small, academically rigorous but not overly competitive, and had "the vibe" is was looking for. When I was looking at universities, my dad told me to look out for the vibe when I got on campus. During my tour of Vanderbilt, I felt at home. I could see myself as part of everyday life here. Since making Vanderbilt my home, I've done exactly that. Every day I look forward to the people I'll meet and interact with and share Vanderbilt's fun Southern vibe with.
Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.
My favorite activity is VIDA, Vanderbilt's premier Latin dance group. I was never a dancer, but this organization basically built my skills from scratch and gave me a confidence for dancing. The group is also tight-knit, and I look forward to each rehearsal and seeing my friends outside of practice.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
My favorite class currently is American Sign Language. It's hands-on (literally) and the teacher is hilarious and great at what she does. I'v always wanted to learn sign language and it's been great to branch out from my engineering classes and take something fun.
Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.
Seeing the Grand Ol Opry at the Ryman Auditorium with my sister and mom was a lot of fun. The announcer is a country music genius and there were so many different diverse acts and styles of country. The auditorium itself has a great vibe as well and it was great to be in the heart of the city seeing what Nashville is famous for.
