Why Vanderbilt

I always go back to three main points when I tell people why Vanderbilt. The first thing I mention is the city of Nashville. No where else will you find a booming and growing city full ofculture, food, music, and sports. The campus is the perfect distance to walk, bike, scooter, or drive making it so easy to get downtown. Second, the size of the school is perfect at 1,600 a grade. I know that if I am ever getting a meal in a dining hall there will always be at least one person I know whether it is from class, my dorm, or an org I am involved it. On the other hand there are enough students for me to be able to meet a new person everyday creating an environment that is neither too small nor overwhelmingly big. Lastly, the type of student that attends Vanderbilt is one that is collaborative, genuine, and supportive of all. If I am ever struggling in a class I know my friends will go above and beyond to help me without wasting a second thinking about how my improved grade with their help could "kill a curve". It is that type of community that makes me so grateful to be a student at Vanderbilt University.

Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.

My favorite organization that I am involved in on campus would be Lights on the Lawn. Through this organization I've been able to meet so many new people at Vanderbilt, and I have been given the opportunity to meet famous singers and artists as well. I love that at Vanderbilt an organization can put on a concert for the entire student body while also giving back to charity, in this case the Mary Parrish Center.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

One of my favorite classes was the Entrepreneurial Challenge. Inthis class my group and I created a series of PowerPoints that we presented to our class on an idea that we created. This class taught me about real world challenges that come along with creating a company, and it also taught me how to be an independent learner and thinker.

Describe your most memorable Nashville or off-campus experience.

I love the food scene in Nashville. My favorite thing to do is explore the new restaurant in Nashville so that I can post them on my food account @nosh_ville. Last semester my friend, Julia, and I were given a free meal at the Catbird Seat restaurant and I have never had a 15 course meal quite like it before!
