Why Vanderbilt

After I came to Vanderbilt for my first campus tour, I definitely fell in love with how beautiful the campus was, but I really chose Vanderbilt because of the social environment here on campus. After my first tour, I stayed behind and talked to some of my friends as well as some of their friends. I found that the people here at Vanderbilt really want everyone to come to campus, find where they belong inside the community, and to give back in some way or form. I have met so many people with so many different interests and different backgrounds, and they always push me to expand my interests and to grow as an individual.

Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.

My favorite organization on campus is the Asian American Student Association. One of my favorite events that we do is Taste of Asia where we cater from quite a few Asian restaurants all around Nashville, and it's a great way to explore different cuisines and to get a lot of food for a pretty solid price! Another fun event is Lunar New Year Festival where students from all across campus come together to perform songs and dances.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

One of my favorite classes at Vanderbilt was my Introduction to Neuroscience class. Even though this was one of the larger lectures because it was an introduction-level course, the professor did a great job making the material really interesting. At the end of every unit, she invited guest lecturers to come talk to us about their experiences and how it related to that unit, and she also had us watch TED talks that related to each unit.
