I was drawn to Vandy because no other school has our combination of hot chicken, SEC football, friendly professors, engaged students, and phenomenal academics. In addition, I wanted to be in position to achieve my ultimate life goal of high-fiving Taylor Swift.
Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.
The highlight of my Vanderbilt experience so far was my Alternative Spring Break trip. Alongside a dozen other Vanderbilt students, I got the chance to work with teen mothers' young children in Denver, Colorado. The trip reaffirmed my love of peekaboo, picture books, and nap time, and also allowed me to build incredible friendships with the other students on my trip.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
I love my "Environmental Assessments" course because it has allowed me to apply my environmental engineering education to conservation issues in my home state of Idaho. As my friends will tell you, I will take any opportunity to talk about what makes my home so special.
Describe your experience becoming a part of the Vanderbilt community.
I arrived at Vanderbilt with no friends, no connections, and no idea what was about to happen. Though the process of establishing oneself away from home isn't easy for anyone, the warmth and openness of the Vanderbilt community ensures that everyone can find a place here. By reaching out to people I admired, I quickly found that it only takes one text to start to build a lifelong friendship.
