When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to go to Vanderbilt because it "checked off all my boxes." It had the perfect location, right in the middle of a fun and growing city while still maintaining the beautiful, picturesque campus feel. It was the perfect size--not too big but not too small. It had stellar academics, the happiest students, and pretty much anything else I could have wanted. While Vanderbilt still has all of those things, after spending over a year here, I realize those aren't what stand out to me. The Vanderbilt community that I've grown to know and love is the most unique and special part of the school. Vanderbilt students are constantly helping and supporting one another, creating an unbeatable campus atmosphere that makes me proud to call Vanderbilt my home.
Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.
My favorite organization on campus is Change++. I helped start this club that provides software solutions, mobile applications and websites to non profits as well as on-campus organizations. It's a great way to apply the skills I learn in my classes to a good cause and get some real world experience.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
My favorite class right now is probably my HOD 1300 Talent Management and Organizational Fit class. The course uses a combination of personality testing as well as market research to help students find the industry and career that they're best fit for. It's been really interesting to learn more about myself as well as gain some very relevant and practical skills that I'll need going forward as I look to begin my career.
