Why Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt is a place where students can pursue their passions unapologetically. The community of collaboration and balance is what drew me to Vandy. Students here are extremely intelligent, but they are also imaginative, compassionate, and humble. I also love how Vanderbilt is in the heart of Nashville. There are so many opportunities to step outside of your comfort zone and explore a city that is full of vibrancy and delicious food.

Describe a favorite activity or organization and why you like it.

My favorite organization on campus is the BhangraDores, a competitive Indian dance team. As a BhangraDore, I get the privilege to spread the art and beauty of Punjabi culture to the Vanderbilt community and around the nation. More importantly, I get to dance alongside a group of people who have shaped my Vanderbilt experience.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it.

My favorite class was a seminar entitled "Encountering Exceptionality," a class on evaluating people who are deviations from the norm. The curriculum was centered around applying the knowledge we gained over the course of the semester to develop our own immersive plan to leave a positive impact on our communities. I loved our engagement with greater Nashville and how invested our professor was with our personal and professional goals and interests.
