Why Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt gained a top spot on my college application list due to many things: great academics, prominent athletics, a phenomenal location, beautiful campus, and better-than-decent dining. What I hardly expected, however, was that I'd meet the best and nicest people I'd ever encounter during my time here. I chose Vanderbilt for surface-level statistics, but the friends I've made here are the reason I know this is the perfect place for me!

Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it (2-3 sentences).
My favorite organization is the Vanderbilt International Relations Association! VIRA is an umbrella organization for a lot of smaller activities on campus. Between attending Model UN conferences all over North America, writing for GlobalVU, running a crisis room during our high school conference, and attending monthly club meetings, VIRA sure keeps me occupied. During my first semester, VIRA was one place I met so many new people, some of whom have become my closest friends.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it (2-3 sentences).
My favorite class at Vandy is actually one I took my first year: African Politics. It was a class of ten people which allowed it to be very discussion-based and I got to learn from so many different perspectives. The best part, for sure, was choosing my own topic for the final term paper. I wrote about HIV in South Africa and got to combine my favorite things about both of my majors!

Describe your most memorable Nashville/off-campus experience.
The moment I tell people about when they ask if Nashville is fun is when the Titans revealed their new uniforms by having a concert on Broadway. It was on a Wednesday, but my friends and I weren't going to miss a free Florida Georgia Line concert on Broadway. The road was shut down for blocks and rumor has it you could see the stage lights from campus!
