Why Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt allows me to experience a truly interdisciplinary education. Through AXLE, I have been able to take classes in over 10 different subject areas across A&S, Engineering, and even Blair. I feel academically challenged but also supported through the amazing faculty and friends I have made while at this university.

Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it (2-3 sentences).
I'm heavily involved with VandyHacks, a student org dedicated to creating a culture of innovation at Vanderbilt through coding workshops and events. I'm proud to be a part of an org that introduces computer science to students who may not have a background or previous experience in the subject, because I believe that technology should serve as a resource for all.

Describe a favorite class and why you like it (2-3 sentences).
One of my favorite classes that I've taken is the University Singers class - a choral ensemble of students from Blair and across the university. We sing challenging repertoire and host multiple concerts during the semester, even partnering with the Blair orchestra to perform collaboratively. In addition, Prof. Biddlecombe is one of the most motivational, talented, and unique teachers I have ever had.

Describe your most memorable Nashville/off-campus experience.
I really enjoy running in the nearby Centennial park, especially on weekends when the park transforms from a peaceful outdoor space into a vibrant, active community gathering spot. For example, in just one Saturday run, I spotted 12 different dogs being walked, saw 4 couples in a photoshoot by the lake, and witnessed a lantern-lighting ceremony in memoriam of a community member that had passed away.
