Initially, the Human and Organizational Development major in the Peabody College was what drew me to Vanderbilt. It's the only one of its kind, and suited my passions and interests perfectly. When I got onto campus, however, it was the people that really made me fall head over heels for the school. Vanderbilt's atmosphere is markedly different from many schools I had visited; everyone is so friendly here. There is a strong sense of camaraderie on campus that I didn't feel elsewhere, and it was clear that the students were happy to be there and that kind of atmosphere was really important to me.
Describe a favorite activity/organization and why you like it.
I love being a Tour Guide because I get to share the awesomeness of Vandy with people every week! It is one of the greatest blessings to be able to be here, and I want to give as many people as possible, especially those who come from underprivileged/underrepresented backgrounds to get the chance to envision themselves here too.
Describe a favorite class and why you like it.
One of my favorite classes is called "Food and Community Development" and in it we explore the concept of food security and food sovereignty, the complexity of food deserts, and the effectiveness of the alternative food movement and solutions for food-insecure families.
