Early Decision I Decisions Available Online Dec. 13

Posted by on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in Early Decision, General Information.

It’s time to welcome the first members of the Vanderbilt Class of 2019! Beginning Saturday, December 13, admissions decisions for Early Decision I applicants will be available online through MyAppVU. Check the online decision release notes below for more details about checking your decision.

This year’s group of EDI applicants is the largest and most talented ever.  The incredible academic achievements, community involvement, and diversity of backgrounds and experiences make our task as an admissions staff both rewarding and challenging. It is an honor to see such talented students declaring Vanderbilt their first-choice college. At the same time, such a strong pool of applicants means our process is highly selective, and there are many talented applicants we are not able to admit. It is precisely because these decisions are so difficult that we put such careful consideration into our process.

We thank each and every student who applied through Early Decision I, and we welcome the first members of the Class of 2019. We look forward to sharing the Vanderbilt community with you in the coming years. In the meantime, as you’re sharing your news online with family, friends, and fellow ‘Dores, make sure to use the tag #vu2019. We’ll be watching for you!

Online Decision Release Notes:

  • As of December 13, Early Decision I applicants can log into the MyAppVU portal to access admissions decisions. In addition, we recently emailed each EDI applicant with a personalized URL which will lead you directly to your admissions decision (as of December 13).
  • MyAppVU is THE WAY to find out your admissions decision. This means that if you have not yet created your MyAppVU account, it is imperative that you do so now. (And yes, we do know that some of you EDI applicants haven’t yet created your account yet – get on it!)
  • If you are admitted, please use MyAppVU to claim your spot in the Class of 2019 no later than December 31. Also, you must withdraw your application from other schools to which you’ve applied.
  • While all students will receive their decisions online via MyAppVU, admitted students will also receive their decision letter in the mail.
  • If you experience any difficulty logging in to your MyAppVU account, please contact myappvu@vanderbilt.edu for technical assistance.

Hi Michael – I can’t say that there is an exact time at which the decisions will be available tomorrow. You’ll just have to check and see . . .

Hey I am really excited to find out, do they go up at 12:00 am central time on December 13th or 12:00 am local time on December 13th, or an entirely different time?

Hi, at what time will it be available to view my admission decision? At midnight or later on in the day?

We don’t publicize a specific time of day when decisions will be available – with differences in time zones, that could get confusing. But rest assured, when the decisions come out it will be Saturday somewhere ;)

Is it true that acceptances were just posted to MyAppVU? If we are denied, will it say “denied,” or will we just not see anything?

  • Jay Watson

    December 12th, 2014

Hi – no reason to be concerned, Concerned Student. The decisions have not yet been released. Regardless of decision, your admissions status will be clearly stated in MyAppVU.

Yes very clearly stated with a dry “denied”. I have to say that this years turnout proves that your school does not perform a “holistic” review for each student. You are missing out on all the applicants that you denied because they didn’t have a 34. Sorry that a 770 math isn’t good enough for Vanderbilt.

I feel your pain, Jay, and I’ve been there before although 30+ years ago. Hang in there and I’m sure good times are ahead!

    Hello,

My son applied to Vanderbilt ED 1 and has been waiting eagerly to find out. I find it ridiculous and extremely frustrating how little information is being released especially with discrepancies in time. Your cryptic responses are very unhelpful and frankly a slap in the face to students who might have been deferred or rejected. What I thought was once respectable institution of higher education has gone down a few pegs. I’m extremely disheartened by the lack of compassion and care from admissions staff during this high stress time. Moving forward I recommend a change in the way Vanderbilt handles applicant notifications and provide more empathy regardless of decision.

We understand that waiting for decisions can be stressful. As we posted, decisions are now available today, December 13. Just log in to MyAppVU or click the link in the decision release email we sent earlier this week. And please let us know if you have any trouble accessing the decision – we’ll be happy to help. Thank you!

Hi, I had a question concerning admission decisions. I submitted my application before the early decision deadline, but under regular decision, and I was wondering if I would find out if I was admitted or not earlier, since my application has been in for a while, or if I have to wait several more months when the regular decision applications are released.

Thanks for your question. Regardless of when you turned in your application, if you applied for Regular Decision, you will find out when we release those decisions (no later than April 1).
