ED2 Letters Have Left the Building

Posted by on Thursday, February 14, 2008 in Application Process, Early Decision, VU Admissions Statistics.

Thanks for your patience everyone, but our early decision II letters left 2305 West End first thing this morning.

A couple of notes:

-As is customary with Vanderbilt early decision, expect all letters to come in small envelopes.

-As we’ve discussed before, we very rarely defer from early decision to regular.

-If you have not yet received your letter by February 20th, you may call our office (800-288-0432) and receive your decision over the phone.

-For you stat junkies out there, here’s what the academic profile of our total admitted ED class looked like this year:

Total ED Admit Rate: 36%
Average SAT: 1370
Average ACT: 30.7

IMPORTANT NOTE: We provide these numbers in the interest of open communication about the competitiveness of our applicant pool. They do not and cannot tell the whole story. As we’ve discussed on this blog many times, the admissions review at Vanderbilt is fully holistic, and dozens of variables factor into our decisions (most of which cannot be quantified as easily as those provided here).

Best of luck to everyone!

When are applicants for scholarships notified? Specifically, the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship says it notifies applicants of interview in mid-February? Is this correct?

From looking at the early decision II statistics, do you think the stats will be similar for regular decision as well, or probably a lot higher? Around a 30 ACT would be the average?

This must be great news for EDII applicants. I, myself, am RD applicant, so I am nervously waiting for April 1.
