I know that title is a bit of a mouthful but read on to know why.

So I was sitting down a few days ago and I got thinking about all that’s happened this semester. My conclusion: Vandy wants me to have as much fun as possible.

So earlier on this semester I had the opportunity to be part of a group of Vandy students that took a trip down town to the live taping of Country Music Star John Rich’s new TV talk show: Rich at Night. This was quite the experience. The entire trip was courtesy of Vanderbilt University so it really didn’t cost us as the students anything. It was open to all so really any student could have chosen to come along. About 100 of us went downtown where a large section of the city was cordoned off for this particular event. Just to give some context, John Rich is a singer songwriter and successful entrepreneur. He was the winner of Donald Trump’s eleventh season of Celebrity Apprentice. I actually wasn’t aware who he was until that day.

Our task for the day as Vanderbilt students was to lead a large group of Nashville residents down the street as we headed to the final venue of his show. This was going to be the opening to the pilot episode and Vanderbilt Students were lucky enough to be at the front of this procession. To say it was fun would be an understatement. It was a total thrill! We did around 5 different takes during the course of the day which took quite some time but it was totally worth it.

The next 2 events I would like to mention are both movie premieres that Commons Residents had free access to. Commons Residents are basically all freshmen. The two movies are: The Hunger Games and Captain Phillips. If you haven’t seen these two movies you should plan to as soon as possible. They were major hits at the box office and Vandy freshmen got free tickets and transport to both premieres.

At this rate, I can’t wait for the spring semester if the fall semester is anything to go by.
