A Very Suite Christmas

Even though our suite isn’t necessarily our home for the holidays, we decided to dress it up with some wintry cheer to get us through finals. Because I’m all about lists and decorating tips, I thought I’d give you some easy dorm decoration tips for the holiday season. If you’re not living in a dorm yet, you can already get started on some advanced brainstorming or apply these tips to just about any space!

1. White paper is your best friend. It’s readily available and you can make just about anything out of it–snowflakes, paper chains, icicles, wreathes–anything!

2. Tape trees are simple and fun! See that remarkably realistic Christmas tree? It’s made out of washi tape! Fellow blogger Caitlyn was the mastermind behind this tree–we’re thinking of leaving it up and just switching the decorations for different seasons.

3. Christmas lights add easy ambience. Just grab a strand or two, put them on a windowsill, and I guarantee your room will feel more festive right away.

4. A little ribbon goes a long way. Especially if it’s red and green! The ribbon on our tape tree and the bow on our wreath are both made from some sparkly ribbon.

5. Learn to make a 3D snowflake. This is legitimately one of the greatest skills you can teach yourself if you want to be the life of any holiday party or always have the most top-notch, festive decorations. They are incredibly easy to make and you can make them in a variety of colors and sizes.

Decorating for the holidays was a lovely break from studying for finals, and a fantastic way to bond with my suite mates. If it were up to me, I think we’d leave our decorations up all year!
