When Your Mom Visits (Version 2.0)

Posted by on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in Family, Food, General Information, Nashville, Student Life, Summer.

As I mentioned earlier, my mom was here this past week! Whenever my mom comes, we try and do some exploring–either a new part of town, or Nashville classics that I might not always have a chance to get to during the normal school year. This visit was no exception and so I present to you a list of the places my mom and I went while she was here this time. Consider it your own personal guide to where to go when you visit Nashville.

1. Bobbie’s Dairy Dip–huge, chocolate-dipped, soft-serve ice cream cones. Do you really need to know anything else?

Not pictured: Me, with a giant and delicious cone of ice cream-y goodness.

2. Pancake Pantry–my mom has been begging to go here for a while, so we finally went! We were there around 8am on a Tuesday, and thankfully there was no line. During weekends, the line often stretches around the block, so definitely be there early if you go!

3.The Factory at Franklin and downtown Franklin–okay, so technically my mom and I have been to both these places before…but we loved them so much that we wanted to go back! We also have friends who recently moved to Franklin, so we had a good excuse to head out that way.

4. McDougal’s–both my mom and I love food (you’ll notice that a lot of the things on this list will be restaurants…) so of course we had to go to my favorite spot for chicken fingers. It’s a classic.

5. Lynchburg, TN–Lynchburg is about an hour and a half outside of Nashville, and it’s home to the Jack Daniel’s distillery, which you can tour. It was actually really interesting to see how Jack Daniel’s is made and learn the history behind it–the standard tour was free, and it’s fun to explore the tiny town of Lynchburg as well! We ate at Barrelhouse BBQ for dinner, which I would definitely recommend.

The whole group and our fantastic tour guide Randy, aka "Goose".

That really only gets us through Wednesday of the past week…so stay tuned for a part two with even more places. I’ve decided I should really just plan jam-packed weeks for people visiting Nashville all the time…if you’re ever looking for somewhere great to go (especially food-wise), shoot me an e-mail and I’ll give you some personalized recommendations!
