Les Miserables

Last night, I was looking for a quiet and fun activity for me and my friends. The week after spring break is always a long one and we were looking for a way to relax. Lucky for us, VSG shows a movie every month in Sarratt Cinema. This month’s movie was especially enticing. Not only did VSG show an Oscar winning film, but this film is still in theaters! I got to see Les Miserables!

Don’t get me wrong, I like musicals, but I just never got around to seeing the movie despite its long run in theaters and critical praise. Alas, VSG came through and provided me with the perfect opportunity. They have two screenings: one at 7 and one at 10. My friends and I went out to dinner and went to the 10 o’clock showing. Vanderbilt programs are always over the top. In addition to the free movie, VSG also provided popcorn, candy, cookies and soda. Considering the exorbitant prices at the movie theater these days, my friends and I were pretty excited about our sweet set-up.

I guess I should take this time to mention that VSG did not stream the movie illegally. One of my friends is actually the girl who plans these events and she told me that colleges get early and discount access to major titles, aka they have the hook up. In my time at Vanderbilt, VSG movies have included Easy A, The Dark Knight Rises, and Harry Potter 8 just to name a few. When the weather is nice, they sometimes play movies on the lawn, which is so much fun!

As a random side note, the weather in Nashville has been BEAUTIFUL over the past 48 hours. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that spring is really here!
