Birthdays!

Posted by on Sunday, March 24, 2013 in College Life, General Information, Nashville, Student Life.

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind. Between getting back from Spring Break, tests and papers and spring fever, I have hardly had a minute to breathe. It just so happens that on top of all of this, THREE of my very best friends also celebrated their birthdays in this short span. Birthdays are the perfect excuse to plan fun activities and take much-needed study breaks. My friends did just that.

Kali turned 21 on February 28, the day before spring break. Her mom came into town to celebrate because Kali went to Honduras on a service trip for spring break. We all went to Monell’s, which is a family style Southern food restaurant close to campus. It was so much fun to sit around a big table and take a break from our hectic lives. We laughed and ate way too much.

Happy Birthday Kali!

Next, Lauren turned 21. Her two best friends from home came to visit. We all went to dinner, but she spent the majority of her weekend catching up with her home friends. We did, however, surprise her with her favorite birthday cake from Publix. Lauren is also from Miami, so naturally she knows that Publix birthday cakes are the way to go. Doesn’t she look so happy?

Finally, Sumner turned 21 this past Monday. Her parents also came into town. They took us to Sumner’s favorite restaurant, Holland House, in east Nashville. We just had the best time at dinner. We all devoured our meals and shared stories about Sumner. The best part of the night was after dinner, when we all gave Sumner small gifts. Her mom asked us all to bring 21 things for Sumner. We laughed at everyone’s “things” and they were all perfectly representative of our respective relationships with Sumner. I made her a collage of 21 pictures of us.

All in all, it has been a great few weeks celebrating friends and fun. Thanks to all of the friends and family that came to visit! I felt so special by association. My birthday is not until August. Is it too early to request an elaborate 21st birthday and start of senior year celebration?
