Diwali!

Every year, Masala-SACE (South Asian Cultural Exchange) hosts a show called Diwali. Last year, my roommate (and fellow blogger) Ashlin, along with a few other friends, were dancers in the show. It looked like a ton of fun, so this year myself and a couple of friends (including another fellow blogger Caitlyn) decided to join the fun and do Diwali as well!

Every year, Diwali has a theme– this year it was “How I Met Your Mummy”, a play off of the tv show “How I Met Your Mother“. The show consisted of a variety of Indian cultural dances– from traditional ones like Raas or Classical, to dances such as Fusion that combined hip hop with Indian moves. There are also musical performances and skits and videos between each dance, and they all came together to create a fantastic show!

Diwali was an awesome opportunity to meet new people, learn about another culture, and work on my dance moves! I’m already looking forward to doing it again next year!

Here’s a link to the video of the All Girls dance, which Caitlyn, Ashlin, and myself were all in (I’m the really tall blonde one): Diwali All Girls Dance

And check out some pictures from the event (thanks to Eileen for the onstage picture! She came out to see the show and support her fellow bloggers):
