Vanderbilt University Class of 2016
Welcome to the Class of 2016!
From all of us at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, congratulations on being admitted to Vanderbilt University! We know you've worked tirelessly to get here, and we are thrilled to welcome you to the Class of 2016.
While the hard part is over (for now -- hello General Chemistry!), there are a few steps left to finalize your place in the Class of 2016.
-
Mail in your signed candidate reply form and $400 matriculation deposit.
-
Withdraw all other applications and notify other schools to which you've applied that you will be attending Vanderbilt.
-
Complete the CSS Profile and FAFSA (if you have not already done so and intend to apply for need-based aid). (Contact the Office of Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships with any questions.)
Beginning in late spring, and after your matriculation deposit is processed, you will be able to set up your VUnet ID which will allow you access to your Vanderbilt email, and the ability to access various campus sites. All the information you need to set up your VUnetID, apply for housing, and register for classes will be available in the Open 'Dores and Road to Vanderbilt information packets. Open 'Dores will arrive by early April and the Road to Vanderbilt will arrive in May. (You cannot apply for housing until April 1.)
For now, enjoy a video featuring last year's Move-In Day below -- this is the warm welcome you can expect on August 18, 2012!
Here is some additional information:
-
Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships
If you intend to apply for need-based financial aid you need to complete both the CSS Profile and the FAFSA.
Because the application deadline for undergraduate merit-based scholarships is December 15, 2011, we hope that you've already applied for any merit-based scholarships that interest you.

While your assigned admissions counselor is more than willing to answer questions, the Office of Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships is the most appropriate resource for financial aid questions or concerns.
-
Housing and Residential Education
The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons is a living-learning community for first-year students and residential faculty. There are ten first-year residences, called Houses, each home to an average of 165 students.
Incoming first-year students will apply for housing online in Summer 2012. Instructions for accessing and completing the first-year housing application will be included in The Road to Vanderbilt information packet, which you will receive by mail in May if your matriculation deposit has been processed.
New students receive housing assignments in early August 2012. The information provided will include the residence hall, room number, telephone number, P.O. box number and the name, address and phone number of your roommate.
First-year move-in for the Class of 2016 will be Saturday, August 18, 2012. Students receive detailed move-in instructions with their assignment letters mailed in early August. Additional information about living on campus is available via the Office of Housing and Residential Education.
-
Dining and Meal Plans
All first-year students will have a meal plan accessible through their Commodore Card.
Specifically designed for the Vanderbilt student, meal plans offer comprehensive options in 20 locations that include meals in a retail environment, to-go meals in our convenience stores, and flexibility to use Meal Money at our unique local restaurant partners through the Taste of Nashville.
-
Course Registration
All Vanderbilt students register for classes through Your Enrollment Services (YES). In May and June, incoming students will receive an academic advisor and information on how to register for fall courses.
Explore our undergraduate catalog for more information on available coursework and learn more about Vanderbilt's online course registration system.
-
Vanderbilt ID and Email
In order to create a VUNetID you must submit your matriculation deposit (note: processing of this deposit may take up to 2 weeks). After Vanderbilt processes your deposit, you may activate your ID online through Vanderbilt ITS. Be aware that you will not be able to create your VUNet ID until late March 2012.
Once you have a VUnetID you are able to use your Vanderbilt email account; further instructions will be available in the Road to Vanderbilt information packet and on the Vanderbilt ITS website.
